HARVARD UNDERGRADUATES IN ASIA PROGRAM
FIRST-YEAR SUMMER PROGRAM

What is FYSP

WHAT IS FYSP?

The HUAP First-Year Summer Program (FYSP) is a premier student-run program for welcoming incoming first years as they transition from high school to college. FYSPers receive 1-on-1 mentorship with board members, work on meaningful conference projects, learn skills across numerous disciplines through our workshops, and attend weekly socials with the FYSP family.

After program completion, members are invited to join one of the HUAP committees and are welcomed to the general HUAP membership.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

KIRA, FYSP '22

FYSP is a great way to get to know Harvard and its people!

FYSP builds an amazing community through its weekly meetings and socials with upperclassmen mentors and fellow FYSPers.  Board members are open to answering any questions you have, and the workshops provide really helpful tips on navigating Harvard and mastering pre-professional skills. And through committee meetings, we were able to make lots of progress in getting ready for the upcoming conference. Overall, FYSP is a great way to transition to life on campus!

FYSP introduced me to the HUAP family and reassured me in the transition to college!

Whether it is through learning practical skills such as networking and digital product design in workshops, getting to know the ins and outs of Harvard through mentor meetings, or meeting the super welcoming and funny board members during socials, FYSP allowed me to see firsthand how incredible the community is and eased my worries, while making me excited to arrive on campus!

FYSP has been the single most helpful resource in learning the ins & outs of Harvard!

Through FYSP, I’ve had the pleasure of finding such a supportive community of people who are willing to spend time talking to first-years about their personal experiences at Harvard! FYSP workshops and mentorships provide you with genuine student perspectives in choosing courses, clubs, and summer opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else. You’ll also be equipped with skills in product design, networking, etc. in addition to an incredible group of friends.
