HARVARD COLLEGE IN ASIA PROGRAM
FIRST-YEAR SUMMER PROGRAM
WHAT IS FYSP?
The HCAP First-Year Summer Program (FYSP) is a premier student-run program for welcoming incoming first years as they transition from high school to college. FYSPers receive 1-on-1 mentorship with board members, work on meaningful conference projects, learn skills across numerous disciplines through our workshops, and attend weekly socials with the FYSP family.
After program completion, members are invited to join one of the HCAP committees and are welcomed to the general HCAP membership.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
CINDY, FYSP '20
Joining FYSP was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
I learned so much about everything from Shiny and NumPy to animation and how to best utilize Harvard’s resources. Everyone from my website-design team to my awesome mentor and all of the people on board and within FYSP have been so warm and welcoming and have really made me feel like I already have a family here at Harvard!
FYSP is an amazing way to spend summer before college!
Mentor meetings and socials are also a great way to meet fellow incoming freshmen and learn more about Harvard from upperclassmen, and the workshops teach you a lot of practical skills, from photography to networking to web scraping. All the board members are so funny, welcoming, and wholesome--honestly the best community!
Harvard is a place filled with incredible people.
Whether it be facilitating company outreach under the guidance of my incredible team leader; having Zoom conversations...with my fantastic mentor and fellow mentee; or bonding through Friday-night socials, FYSP instilled within me the conviction that Harvard...is a place filled with incredible people.
